"Our ropes are eco-friendly" -Respecting the environment
Quality and safety are the key to making responsible and innovative high-performance ropes. EDELRID has been following this maxim for the past 150 years. Our ropes and experience in manufacturing them are the heart and soul of our long-established brand.
To further extend our quality and safety standards, we have been working with bluesign technologies ag from Switzerland since 2009. We are the first rope manufacturer to adapt our ropes to meet the tough demands of the bluesign® system. The bluesign® system is the most stringent environmental standard for the production of textile products. It is independent, internationally recognised and based on the five principles of resource productivity, emissions protection, safety at work and consumer protection. The bluesign® system's goal is to follow these five principles throughout the whole textile manufacturing chain.
EDELRID has set new industry benchmarks for innovative and sustainable rope production. All the materials used to make our ropes are bluesign® approved. We can therefore guarantee as few pollutants as possible without making any compromises in terms of functionality, quality and design. Our ropes carry the bluesign® product label thanks to their combination of certified source materials and our advanced rope production facilities in Isny. The bluesign® product label is a sign of quality. It guarantees an eco-friendly manufactured product that is low in pollutants and safe for heath and the environment. As such, we have responded to consumers' natural demands for safe, environmentally friendly and sustainable products.
Four years working together with bluesign technologies ag allow us to draw on in-depth experience of sustainable rope production. By converting all our rope production to the tough demands of the bluesign® system we were able to make the following efficiencies when dyeing sheath yarns: 62 % CO2 reduction, 89 % savings in water, 63 % less energy consumption and 63 % less chemicals.
For EDELRID this represents a further step towards a sustainable future. We have consistently pursued the task of pushing forward sustainable rope production so that we can continue to inspire trust in the future. We do not consider these measures a virtue, but a natural response to demands of the modern world. As the inventor of the kernmantel rope, we continue to set new standards. We can now say with confidence:
EDELRID joins the EOCA to conserve our environment
The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) was formed by the European outdoor industry and brings together outdoor companies to support environmental projects. In June 2006, the EOCA (formerly the EOG Association for Conservation) was created following a desire by the Outdoor Industry to collectively "give something back" to the environment that it cares about so passionately - as well as depends on for its own livelihood.
Until today 54 projects in 32 countries were supported, over 200km of footpaths have been repaired, over 28,000 hectars of wilderness protected, over 70,000 saplings planted and 72 tonnes of rubbish removed from wild places. We are proud member of the EOCA to support the conservatioin and protection of our environment.
